Aaron Wilbraham tussles for the ball against Wrexham

The half time appearance of Izale McLeod inspired the Dons to a handy away victory that never looked on the cards at the interval.

McLeod it was who levelled the scores less than a minute after his introduction, paving the way for Sean O'Hanlon to score what proved to be the winner.

The hosts had taken the lead midway through the first half and deservedly led the game at the break - little did they know what lay in store for the second period.

After a bright start from the Dons that saw a certain penalty for the visitors denied by the assistant referee's flag for offside, it was Wrexham who made the early chances.

Scott TaylorFirst a left foot volley from Mark Jones had to be pushed round the post by Adolfo Baines before a shot from Darren Ferguson fell inches wide of the target. Five minutes later Jones again forced the Dons' Spanish stopper into a save, stinging the 'keeper's hands from 20 yards.

Then, with 20 minutes gone, the hosts early pressure paid off when Roberts forced the ball home from close range amidst a true goalmouth melee.

First a shot from Mike Williams had to blocked away from goal, then a follow-up from Matt Crowell went the same way, before Roberts made it third time unlucky for the Dons despite a strong hand from Baines, who could only stun the ball into the top corner.

The Dons bounced straight back from the goal and were quickly into the attack and close to an equaliser on the half hour mark.

A clumsy looking foul on Scott Taylor gave Jon-Paul McGovern a chance to shot from the free kick, no more than tweny yards out. HIs effort was over the wall and had Wrexham 'keeper Mike Ingham beaten, but was a whisker away from the target and wide.

As the half wore on, the Dons did enjoy more possession and more of the play than they had early on. However, with little to show for their efforts in terms of end product, it looked as though something special would be needed to level the scores.

That said, with 40 minutes on the clock, Scott Taylor was left feeling hard done by when his effort looked like it would do the trick and bring about the equaliser.

A corner from Dean Lewington was half cleared, allowing McGovern to flip the ball back in to Taylor. His shot from 15 yards beat Ingham all ends up, but struck the right hand upright and bounced back into play.

After the break, the Dons came out with obvious added drive, perhaps inspired by the introduction of McLeod for Taylor.

Less than a minute later, and almost written in the stars, it was the Dons leading scorer who levelled matters with practically his first touch of the game.

Collecting the ball from Clive Platt just inside the area, McLeod composed himself and picked his spot from 15 yards, giving Ingham no chance in the Wrexham goal.

Having found the equaliser, the Dons continued with outstanding impetous and McLeod again had a sight of goal, racing onto a long ball over the top.

Cutting inside from the left, he shot right footed towards the bottom right hand corner, but Ingham was equal to the effort this time and parried the bal wide of the goal.

From the resulting Lewington corner, Aaron Wilbraham found himself in yards of space at the back post, but his free header was straight at the increasingly busy Wrexham 'keeper who held on safely.

Back at the other end, and with 70 minutes on the clock, the home side came close to re-taking the lead thanks to a sharp counter attack after a spell of pressure from the Dons.

Mark Jones raced onto a slide rule pass from midfield and perhaps should have passed to a team-mate in a better position - however, he struck his shot well and forced a smart save from Baines.

Six minutes later and it was the turn of Paul Mitchell to test Ingham as he was on the end of a through ball from McGovern. Ingham came out quickly to close down the angle and block Mitchell's effort out for a corner.

However, a further minute later and the Dons had turned the game on it's head thanks to unlikely goalscorer O'Hanlon.

A neat ball from Lloyd Dyer put McLeod away in the right hand channel. The England under 21 international striker's shot was well parried by Ingham, but left former Swindon centre half O'Hanlon with the simple task of tapping the ball home from close range.

Having taken the lead the Dons looked comfortable and kept the ball well. That said, there was almost a sting in the tail when Welsh international Chris Llewellyn capitalised on a mistke from Dialo to nip in and shot just wide of the target with Baines easily beaten.

After that chance, the nearest Wrexham could come to their own equaliser was a hopeful effort from Matty Done, that was never threatening the Dons goal and flew high and wide.

It was a remarkable turnaround from the Dons, perhaps not as dramatic as the draw at Barnet or the win against Torquay, but the spirit and quality shown after the break was exactly what was needed.

Without a doubt it was the half time appearance of McLeod that turned the game - his pace, directness and sheer quality gave the Dons some extra in the final third - something they have been missing for some time.
