Dons striker Aaron Wilbraham said he wished the season didn't have to end after scooping the Powerade Player of the Month award for April.

The 28-year-old hitman's blistering end-of-season form has helped fire Paul Ince's team to promotion and the League 2 title.

At stadiummk in particular, Wilbraham has been irresistible with seven goals in his last six games taking his total to 10 for the season.

And while the summer break will be a welcome one, Alby says he wouldn't mind if League 1 started tomorrow.

He said: "I didn't really want the season to end, things were going well on the scoring front and I was really enjoying it. I felt like I was really in the groove.

"I've had a few niggly injuries through the season that have not just been keeping me out, but stopping me from training so I've been losing a bit of fitness.

"Towards the end I've not had any problems, I've been getting the training in and it's showed in the games I've been a lot fitter.

"I don't know what the secret is, but last season I scored nine and eight of them were away from home. This season I've got 10 and they've all been here so I don't know, it must be something about the new stadium!

"I'm looking forward to going away and refreshing the batteries with a good summer, but it would have been nice to carry on!"

With a new division and clashes with some big clubs to look forward to, the 2008/09 campaign should fill Dons fans with anticipation for an exciting season.

And Wilbraham says despite lifting the title and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy this term, all thoughts of the Double will be forgotten about when the players return for pre-season.

He said: "I think all that will be forgotten when we come back, it'll all be about looking forward to the fixtures that will have just come out in League 1.

"There are some big clubs in League 1 and hopefully that'll mean teams coming here and trying to win rather than just sitting back and defending."
