BROUGHTON: NO REGRETS
Striker Drewe Broughton says he enjoyed being part of MK Dons Double-winning season, but feels he now has something to prove following his release from the Club.
The 29-year-old frontman made 19 appearances for Paul Ince's men, after joining from Chester last summer, but found starting opportunities tough to come by as the Dons blazed a trail at the top of the League 2 table.
And having spent most of the second half of the season on-loan with Wrexham, Broughton was aware his chances of remaining at stadiummk were slim.
He told mkdons.com: "I had a good idea it was coming, I'd had a good chat to the Gaffer about next season and it was no real surprise.
"Things like this happen, I've been in the game long enough to know that and I'll start next season with a point to prove both to myself and the Milton Keynes fans.
"It was a disappointing season for me, I never felt I really got it going after pre-season. The team was winning so chances were few and far between and you can accept that, but it does make it difficult to get any momentum going.
"It was a great season for the Club and it was great for me to play a part in it, albeit a small part, and I've enjoyed the year I've been here. I've absolutely no regrets."
Having initially joined the Dragons for a month in January, Drewe made a dramatic return to stadiummk for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-final against Swansea and scored the winning penalty in the shootout to send the Dons to Wembley.
But while Dons fans may remember that moment for the rest of their lives, the man himself is far more modest about the achievement.

He said: "It was obviously a great feeling at the time but it's not something I'll dwell on.
"I scored a similar goal for Southend a few years back in the semi-final of the same competition and sent them to their first final in nearly 100 years.
"I'd rather be somebody who's produced across 25-30 games in a season than done it in a one-off game like that."
What the future holds for the former Norwich trainee remains to be seen but offers for a man of his talents are sure to be plentiful.
And Broughton is looking to earn the right to impress wherever his path may lead.
He said: "I had three or four calls towards the back end of last season but said I needed to wait until I knew what was happening with Milton Keynes.
"I had a good idea what was coming but I thought it disrespectful to start touting myself around until I'd been told formally.
"I don't think I'm at my best as a third or fourth-choice, I'm a player that benefits from playing week-in-week-out.
"But being a Club's number-one striker is something you have to earn and I'll be looking to do that. I'll look at the way I've done things this season, work on the things I need to work on and look to get ready for the new season.
"I'm going on holiday this week, I'll have some time to enjoy myself over the summer and then sort something out in June."
